A special thanks goes out to the Friends of the NRA organization for supporting our program with a grant to start our precision shooting program. This program provided 6 shooting coats in 2014, 6 shooting trousers in 2015, and practice pellets that will benefit our marksmanship program for years to come. We continue to improve our program every year and rely on organizations such as the Friends of the NRA to support our enhancements. Otherwise, we would not be where we are now.
The Trojan Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps has earned a top score in a rigorous inspection by the United States Army Cadet Command. The unit must achieve above a 97 percent score required to earn the Honor Unit With Distinction designation. Less than 10 percent of all high school JROTC programs throughout the country qualify for the Honor Unit With Distinction level. The comprehensive evaluation included a cadet-led Command Staff briefing, personal appearance inspection of the cadet corps, demonstrations of basic knowledge of JROTC subjects, and a drill and ceremonies evaluation. The Honor Unit With Distinction awarded is signified by the Gold Star, which is worn above the right pocket.
On September 11, 2001, at 8:45 a.m. the Islamic terrorist group al-Qaeda initiated a series of four coordinated terrorist attacks on the United States. Four passenger airliners operated by two major U.S. passenger air carriers (United Airlines and American Airlines) were hijacked by 19 al-Qaeda terrorists. Two of the planes, American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175, were crashed into the North and South towers, respectively, of the World Trade Center complex in New York City.
Within an hour and 42 minutes, both 110-story towers collapsed, causing significant damage to the World Trade Center complex and ten other large surrounding structures. A third plane, American Airlines Flight 77, was crashed into the Pentagon in Arlington County, Virginia, leading to a partial collapse of the building's western side. The fourth plane, United Airlines Flight 93, initially was steered toward Washington, D.C., but crashed into a field in Stonycreek Township near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, after its passengers tried to overcome the hijackers.
As a result of this attack, 343 firefighters and 72 law enforcement officers were killed making this the single deadliest incident for firefighters and law enforcement officers in the history of the United States. The attacks killed 2,996 people, injured over 6,000 others, and caused at least $10 billion in infrastructure and property damage.
On SePtember 11, 2017, the Fountain Fort Carson JROTC program Honor Guard performed a tribute for the High School by raising the flag to half-staff and asking the school to join them in a moment of silence in respect to our fellow citizens that perished on that day. This ceremony consisted of the JROTC Color Guard, Saber Team and Bugler.

The school year of 2020-21 has finally begun for our cadets at Fountain Fort Carson. The instructors of the JROTC program, and our Battalion Commander, Nemo Thompson, and our fellow cadets are prepared to have a very successful year with all of our functions. We are excited to see the amount of cadets who will take part in volunteer opportunities, parades, service learning projects, team competitions and even the annual military ball!
HOOAH!
The following Cadets have been selected as the Cadet of the Year by competing in the Cadet of the Year board in April and are authorized to wear the Cadet of the Year Cord and Arc Pin for the 2019-20 school year.

Our mission: “To motivate young people to be better citizens.”
Our Purpose: Our curriculum prepares high school students for responsible leadership roles while making them aware of their rights, responsibilities, and privileges as American citizens. The program is a stimulus for promoting graduation from high school, and it provides instruction and rewarding opportunities that will benefit the student, community, and nation.
Collaboration:In the production of this curriculum the JROTC Directorate has incorporated the latest educational theories used in secondary education. National Secondary School standards have been linked to each chapter to show a cross-connection with this curriculum and the standard curriculum taught in high school. Consultants were used to validate the changes. Other commercially available materials have been incorporated and many times the authors of these programs have customized them for the JROTC program.
